Hi Marc,

Thanks for your tip. The matter with the wrong targets went away when I 
switched to the latest build of version 3.8.1.
Using defaultName solved the issue with the default program group. Remains 
the problem with the start up directory. I tried  location=applications and 
location=startMenu, and both result in a blank "Start in". Any further 
ideas?

Hi Mark,

I advise at first, to use defaulName instead of name in the following
line in your spec.xml. Also please try location="applications" at first.
